If we had to bet on where our next 20+ pCi/L reading comes from, we'd bet Pueblo West. The rocky, uranium-bearing ground the metro district was carved out of produces some of the hottest soil-gas numbers in the county. That ranch house off Liberty Point that tested 26.4 last February? Two suction points and an RP265 later it holds at 0.9. Not an unusual week out here.
Pueblo West homes have a few quirks we plan around. Most of the housing stock is slab-on-grade or walkout basement built from the 1990s on, which usually means clean slabs and easy attic fan placement, good news for your quote. The spread-out lots along Purcell and McCulloch mean exterior pipe runs are rarely visible from the street. And because much of Pueblo West is on private wells rather than city water, we're one of the few outfits that will also talk to you about waterborne radon: if your airborne number is high and you're on a well, say so when you call and we'll test both.
We're out this way constantly, installs booked from Desert Hawk to the north side acreages, so scheduling is quick. New builds going up off Platteville Boulevard: ask about a passive rough-in before the pour, it's the cheapest radon system you'll ever buy. Existing homes start with a 48-hour test, then a mitigation quote if the number says so.
